UNKNOWN PERSON
WHO WE ARE
We tell stories about people who create and dream, and about places where art is concentrated. We support public cultural initiatives
ABOUT US
Unknown Person was founded in 2018. Initially it was a printed periodical magazine. During first two years we published 10 issues that told more than 250 stories of artists and other creatives from underground art communities and independent culture. Now all issues of the magazine are stored in the archive of the GARAGE Museum library.

We participate in art festivals and organize our own events with the aim of developing print culture – markets, workshops, public talks, open calls, exhibitions and lectures. We blog online about music, contemporary art and design, self-publishing, independent cinema and theater.
We believe that the power of art can transform a person internally and give motivation to change the world for the better
SMALL PRESS
We publish small books that are both zines and art objects. We have published children's books, documentary zines, comic books, autofiction and illustrative stories. Presentations of our printed projects are accompanied by exhibitions and performances.

SPACE
We are currently in the process of opening our own art space KAFEDRA in the city of Herceg Novi

At the end of 2021 we were residents of Moscow Contemporary Art Center WINZAVOD in the Soyuz Pechat Moscow gallery-shop, where anyone could purchase our zines and prints . In this space we produced and curated one solo exhibition about global warming titled «46℃». As well as one large group exhibition linked to our newly published book «Hair cover», and in which more than 50 artists and authors participated. But in April 2022 gallery was closed. Now we are working on opening a new artist run space in a new location.
We are always looking for support for our project. We want to contribute to the development of print culture and help independent authors
WORKSHOPS AND ART LABORATORY
Our educational project «Laboratories and Workshops of Self-Published Books» is a series of events where each participant creates an individual printed publication or works on a collective zine focused on one selected theme. The result of the laboratory is a small exhibition or an offline performance that presents the zine. Participants meet each other and collaborate through different art mediums, which helps strenghten and expand the cultural community. Everything that was created during workshops is archived, as a result of which we have fascinating research material in a variety of art practices on numerous topics.
